2019 Annual General Meeting

2019 Annual General Meeting

The 2019 AGM was held at 20.00 on 7th January at The Lion in Waddesdon. The Lion, which does not usually provide meals on Monday evenings, had reserved the spacious dining room for us, and had arranged the seating as for a conference. Eleven members had decided to dine before the meeting, and had pre-ordered meals, which were very much enjoyed.

When the other members had joined us (we were 20 in all), the AGM proceedings began with the Chairman Dave Barton welcoming members, accepting apologies and presenting his report for the previous year. He then handed over to the Secretary (Adrian Bennett), who ran through the highlights of the 2018 in his report, which appears elsewhere on this website, along with the minutes of the meeting. Treasurer Jack Martin had prepared the accounts for 2018, and ran through these, highlighting that the club is in a strong financial position, and looks to continue this trend in 2019 with a couple of additional, though small, revenue streams opening up. The accounts were accepted and adopted.

The committee, which comprises Chairman Dave Barton, Treasurer Jack Martin, Secretary Adrian Bennett and member representatives Helen Wayland, Heather Barton and Debs Martin, were all re-elected unopposed for 2019. (Club President Clive Wayland also sits on the committee).

A general discussion then took place in which prospective events and activities for the coming year were considered. These will mainly reflect those which were deemed successful in 2018, but members were asked to suggest other activities that they may like the club to arrange, and were also encouraged to volunteer to assist with the organisation of all these events. In particular the highly successful weekend away was mentioned, and a suggestion to visit the Cotswolds in late September met with considerable approval. Members were also asked to consider if there is anyone whom they know who would be willing to come along to a club night as a guest speaker.

Approval was also expressed with the facilities provided by The Lion, and it was agreed that this should be adopted as our new venue.
