December Quiz Night
Monday 2nd December saw our annual quiz night at our usual home, The Lion in Waddesdon. In past years attendance at this annual event has tended to be rather hit and miss, but this year it exceeded our expectations, as 32 people turned up, including a stalwart team from our neighbours in the Chesham Natter. It should have been 36, but Bill McMeekin was unwell on the night with a chest infection, so he and Lynn couldn’t attend, and Kurt and Jackie Mueller were stuck in traffic in Aylesbury town centre and then were rear-ended by an inattentive Land Rover and were unable to continue, so commiserations to them.
David and Julie Lloyd were our quizmasters, and had done a really good job of compiling the quiz. and keeping us on schedule, hitting the buffet interval dead on time, and finishing exactly at 22.00, so well done! The quiz consisted of ten rounds, including three of music and another that was a very hard round of famous quotes, on which none of the teams scored highly! In the interval Matthew and his team from The Lion served the buffet, which went down really well. Also in the interval we drew the raffle, to which members had generously donated prizes, so many thanks to them.
In the final analysis, the winners were our own Aylesbury M’Ducks (who had been runners up at the Chesham quiz), and fittingly the runners up here were The Interlopers, the Chesham team. The Garbage Men sat at the foot of the table. Full results were: 1st: – Aylesbury M’Ducks 103pts, 2nd: The Interlopers (Chesham) 95 pts, 3rd – Silver Spanners 94 pts, 4th: The Outsiders 88 pts and 5th: The Garbage Men 68 pts.
A very enjoyable and successful evening, so a big thank you to David and Julie for a fine quiz, and also to Matthew and the crew at The Lion for a splendid buffet.
