December Quiz Night
We held our Annual Quiz on Monday 3rd December at the Five Arrows in Waddesdon – possibly our last ever event in this location, as we will be seeking a new host site for our club meetings in the New Year. 16 of us attended, including two prospective new members – Helen Coles and John Brabin. Clive and Helen Wayland were our quizmasters for the second year in a row. So while we enjoyed our nibbles and drinks, we pondered the questions posed in such categories as Chemical Symbols, Solar System, Animals and Birds, as well as the usual MG and General Knowledge and a baffling couple of Marathon rounds which include a series of unidentifiable country flags. Scoring was very even, but Nuts and Sprockets eventually came out on top, having been in last place at the break. The eventual scores were:
Nuts and Sprockets 96 pts, Odd Balls 80 pts, Goujon 78 pts.
A raffle to subsidise the prize of a half-case of wine for the winning team was then held, with the Muellers sweeping the board, but magnanimously putting most of their prizes back, so nearly everyone went away with something. A most enjoyable evening, which nicely rounded off a very successful year for the club.
