Coming Up -Annual General Meeting, Monday January 6th at 20.00
The first meeting of the new year is, as always, our Annual General Meeting. This is an important date in our calendar, as we briefly examine the club financial position, report on the previous year’s activities, elect the new committee and start planning the events that we want to hold in 2020. So please make every effort to attend if you can. Also planned for this meeting is a brief demonstration by Dave Barton of the new membership software package that will give you access to and the ability to update your own information held on the club’s records, as well as simplifying the administration processes. You will already have seen the automated renewal process, part of this new software package. Whilst the meeting will nominally start at 20.00, those wishing to eat at The Lion beforehand, should assemble at 18.30 to do so.
The Lion has a new menu, Please click here to see the menu.
Please book your meals direct with Lucy at The Lion: (email@example.com, 01296 651227).
2019 Skinner Trophy Points
The points for the Skinner Trophy are now in, and the result for 2019 was very close indeed. Roger Withers with 64 points was just pipped at the post by Peter Mansfield on 65, so Peter is the Roger Skinner champion for 2019, and will be awarded the handsome claret jug trophy at the Annual Dinner in February. Well done Peter, and a big thanks to him and to Roger for being such keen supporters and active members of the club.
The Top Ten point scorers for this trophy were as follows:
1st – Peter Mansfield 65 points
2nd – Roger Withers 64 points
3rd = Adrian Bennett 56 points
Brian Rainbow 56 points
5th – Jackie Bennett 53 points
6th = Dave Barton 52 points
Jill Mansfield 52 points
8th – Brian Deacon 49 points
9th = Jack Martin 45 points
Clive Wayland 45 points
Anyone who wants to see their final scores for the year can do so by approaching me at the AGM, I will have the complete spreadsheet with me on the night.
Club’s Annual Dinner and Prizegiving
You will be aware that Heather Barton is organising our Annual Dinner in February, and there is still time to add your name to the list if you haven’t done so. A reminder that the Dinner at the Seven Stars in Dinton constitutes our Club Night for the month, so there will be no meeting in The Red Lion on the first Monday in February. Saturday 1st February 2020 at 19.30, best bib and tucker ….. More information on the website.
Heather is contactable on email at: firstname.lastname@example.org .
December’s Quiz Night
The quiz night in December was very well attended indeed, and turned out to be a very enjoyable night. New members David and Julie Lloyd produced a superb quiz, and strictly kept us to the schedule, so well done and a big thank you to them. In the interval Matthew and his staff at The Lion served up an excellent buffet, which was demolished with relish. Many members brought along raffle prizes, so as well as the winning team (Aylesbury M’Ducks), most people went away with something. A full report is on the website.
