March – Pinewood Studios Talk

For our March Club Night, we had a very good turnout (25 members attending) for our visiting speaker, Mike Payne, to tell us all about the famous Pinewood Film Studios.

Mike stressed that he has no connection with Pinewood other than a great passion for films, and in particular those made at Pinewood. He obviously has an encyclopaedic knowledge of the studios, and proceeded to regale us with a highly entertaining history of the site located in Iver Heath, Buckinghamshire, and with very amusing tales of the making of some well-known films.

He also brought along extensive cinematic memorabilia for us to peruse, including a small part of the extensive collection of autographed photographs of the film stars and other documents that he has acquired over the years.

A very experienced and fluent speaker, Mike made the evening most enjoyable, and he earned an ovation from the audience. A very big thanks to him.
