Breakfast Meet and Run – Saturday 2nd April

Brian and Karen had arranged an informal breakfast meet on Saturday 2nd April, at the Waterfront Cafe in Benson.  This is a venue we had not used before as a club, although it has been used by a number of Club members, and it came highly recommended.

The day dawned fine and sunny, but very cold.  This did not deter a number of hardy souls – six couples who dressed up warmly and set off across the Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire countryside to meet up at the Cafe for 09.30.   The Cafe is in a superb setting, situated, as the name suggests, on the Thames waterfront, having extensive mooring for a collection of expensive-looking boats.  We sat outside under cover – the proprietors having supplied blankets to help us to keep warm, and enjoyed a fine and varied breakfast, including some of the best bacon rolls I have ever had.  After the meal and a sociable chat, we arranged the cars for a photoshoot – not without incident, since the starter motor on new member Rachel’s Midget decided to take this opportunity to stick, but was soon push started and into position.

After the photoshoot, some of us decided to drive to Hailey for a pint before setting off for home, and which is a location we stopped at for refreshment a couple of years ago on a run to Nuffield Place.  Hailey has a very nice country pub with great views across the Chilterns.

When we got there however, we found that the pub, The King Willian IV, doesn’t open until 12.00, and so a leisurely stroll along a nearby footpath was called for until it opened …..

Here’s to many more such runs in the future
